Enjoying an English Golf Vacation to Yorkshire.

I was recently revisiting a golf itinerary that I arranged for a group of golfers to England last year. This itinerary got all my golf senses tingling thinking about the incredible amount of Ryder Cup history and the Mackenzie designed golf courses around the English city of Leeds.  

What I liked about playing each of these golf courses is that they are steeped in tradition and golf lore history. Each of these golf courses are highly ranked in England and their green fee prices are not as high compared to parts of Scotland and Ireland. The courses I'd suggest to play are Ganton Golf Club, Alwoodley, Moortown, Lindrick, Fulford, Ilkley and Sand Moor Golf Club. The Ryder Cup was hosted at Moortown in 1929, Ganton in 1949 and Lindrick in 1957 and course designer Dr Alister Mackenzie worked on Moortown, Alwoodley and Sand Moor.

My suggested hotel to use is called Weetwood Hall and stay here for the entire golf trip. The longest golf travel day is will probably be an hour and twenty minutes drive from Weetwood Hall to Ganton Golf Club. There are plenty of night life attractions, a wide range of restaurant, shopping malls, parks and museums to visit in Leeds that will keep every traveller occupied.  

Airports to consider

There are a number of flight routes you can use from. One option is to route through London airports to Leeds/Bradford airport or fly direct to Manchester and then take an approx a 1hr 45 minute coach ride to my suggested hotel on the outskirts of Leeds, Weetwood Hall.
