A couple of ideas for an Father's Day golf trip to Ireland
Father’s day golf trips
I find that playing golf with your dad is one of the best
ways to bond that everlasting friendship and love between a father and his son.
I have put together a few ideas for different types of golf
trips to the South West of Ireland for yourself and your dad to enjoy with the
help of Concierge
Golf . Concierge golf will book your tee
times, accommodation, transportation and during your trip we can make
recommendations for a range of activities to do also.

Father's Day sample trip 1
Ref: A five
day golf trip, economical but play great links golf courses;
Day 1
Fly into Shannon Airport to be greeted by John Dooley from Concierge Golf! It
is important for us to meet everyone on arrival and go through the itinerary to
double check everything is good. Then you can proceed to pick up your rental
car with a satellite navigational devise.
Drive to and play Adare, a tremendous park land golf course,
followed by one night B&B at the Dunraven Arms Hotel in the village of
Adare. I would suggest to checkout a very nice restaurant in the village of Adare,
called 1826 or, you can also enjoy some pub grub in Pat Collins Bar &
restaurant. There is generally a good atmosphere at Collin’s pub and there
tends to be a few fellow golfers that hangout there watching the US PGA golf
over the weekends.
Day 2
Head to Ballybunion and play the Cashen course (we will buy the
Ballybunion two golf course ticket on your behalf) and it is a tough walk even
without the wind! But, Ballybunion allow golf carts on the Cashen course if
needed.
That night you will stay at the Castleross Hotel in
Killarney. You and your dad can enjoy one of the self-catering golf cottages
for the next four nights. I like the cottages because of there is plenty of
room, there are two bed rooms to a cottage and with a couple of bathrooms to
match. If required the cottages can sleep four persons and Killarney Golf Club is
a matter of minutes away from the hotel and you could nip down to play a few
holes in the evening time for some spectacular views of the Killarney lakes.
Day 3
Why not play Dooks! This course is a hidden links gem with a
lot of great tricky holes for you to think about. I would suggest playing an early
morning round at Dooks and if you both are feeling good after the first round,
why not go for a second round? You can pick up some caddies or golf carts if
needed.
In the evening time, take a local taxi into Killarney and
enjoy a walk around the town. There are plenty of great pubs in Killarney and
you could pick anyone of them to enjoy some fine pub grub, live Irish
traditional music with a couple of creamy pints of stout.
Day 4
Make the trip down to Waterville Golf Links and stop in
Dooley restaurant in Waterville for some fine food before your homeward bound
trip to the Castleross Hotel, Killarney.
Day 5
Check out of the Castleross Hotel and drive North West for Ballybunion
Old Course. This is a walking only golf course and for a treat, perhaps you
might consider hiring a caddy! The caddy experience will add to your dads
experience and trust me, it is worth it, the fun and the stories you can listen
to from the caddies are never ending. But I must warn you, do not believe
everything you hear!
Later that day drive up to Bunrathy, Concierge Golf will
arrange a good quality B&B at a good price for your final night. Bunrathy
is located very close to Shannon Airport and maybe only a ten minute drive to
the Airport. Then perhaps enjoy a nice meal at either PJ Clarkes or Durty
Nellys before departing the next morning.
Day 6
Depart from Shannon airport.

Notes:
That trip based on two people, rental car, accommodation and
golf tee times can be priced from €1,300 to €2,100 per person. The prices
ranges suggest are subject to seasonal change.
If you do not like the courses I have suggested, you can always
switch with Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, The Ring of Kerry, Cork Golf
Club, Old Head, Skellig bay or Tralee G.C. You can also knock a few more bucks
off the tee times by taking advantage of booking early bird rates and twilight
rates instead of premium tee times.

Father's Day sample trip 2
Play the best links and stay in 5* properties..
Day 1 Fly into Shannon Airport & Play Lahinch Golf Club or Doonbeg
You will be greeted by John Dooley from Concierge golf at
Shannon Airport. Then you and your dad will be picked up by a chauffeured
driven luxury car (which you will have at your disposal for the next five days).
You have a choice of playing either Doonbeg Links or Lahinch G.C. You can spend
some time on the range working on your rhythm before you tee off with PGA
Professional John Dooley (who will play golf with you each day for the duration
of the trip and you can call on his advices when you require golf instruction).
That night you will spend at Moy House and enjoy a fine dining experience at the
Moy house.
Day 2 – Ballybunion Old
Drive to Ballybunion and play the Old Course with caddies
(each day we strongly recommend taking caddies), then onto the 5* Europe Hotel
in Killarney. That evening I would suggest a nice meal at Gabys in Killarney.
Day 3- Waterville Golf Links
We’re all off to play Waterville Links and at Waterville, there
is a great practice ground located close to the first tee. Now that is a great
opportunity to practice and receive golf instruction before & after we
play. After golf, I would recommend eating at Dooleys Restaurant in Waterville
(No relation at all).
Day 4 – Tralee G.C
We will tee the balls up to play golf at Tralee golf club and
following the round of golf, I recommend enjoying an evening dinner at Kileen
House in Killarney. If you did not know, Tralee Golf Club is a links course and
is an Arnold Palmer designed golf course.
At this stage everyone is a little tired and before dinner I
would suggest a couple of massages back at the EPSA in the Hotel. Perhaps after
reviewing the ESPA menu you could enjoy a different treatment from their
fantastic list of treatments and your dad might like to enjoy a treatment every
day!
Day 5, Adare
The final leg of this journey will take to you to the Robert
Trent Jones designed golf course, Adare. This is possibly one of the greatest parkland golf courses in Ireland.
That evening you will spend your final night at Dromoland
Caste in their luxurious executive suits. Dinner will be served at the Earl of Thomond
restaurant. The restaurant is located in the hotel and their menu is just
fantastic. Or we can head down the road to Gallaher's fish restaurant located in
Bunrathy and I really like how they serve their fish.
Day 6
A wonderful breakfast at the castle, then depart from Shannon to fly home.
Notes:
You can add in helicopter trips to play the Old Head golf
links or Portmarnock Old. You can even switch the trip around to be based in
Dublin, or Belfast to play Royal County Down and Royal Portrush. These are the
decisions that we at Concierge Golf can help you make and we can customise the
trip to suit you and your father’s needs.
The price for this trip can vary from €3,900 to €6,200 per
person depending on the type of accommodation you prefer. Plus, we can quote
you for helicopter transfers for the whole trip or for one special segment of your trip.
Thank you for your time and I hope I have supplied you with
a few ideas for your father day golf holiday trip. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to contact Concierge Golf at info@conciergegolf.ie and please ask
for John.
