4 Local Towns to visit in County Cork

The Village of Blarney:

The village of Blarney is a must-see for every visitor to Cork and County. In addition to strolling through the stunning gardens of the Blarney Castle! You must take the opportunity to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone! Which the truth be known, the stone will bestow you with the gift of eloquence! Not to forget, for a unique shopping excursion, visit the Blarney Woollen Mills, who specialises in retailing Irish gifts, Aran sweaters and a whole host of souvenirs. Certainly, we recommend, ending your Blarney visit with a taste of Irish cuisine in one of the many pubs and or restaurants. (Estimated 20 minutes’ drive time from Hayfield Manor)

The Jameson Experience Midleton:

Particularly for Whiskey lovers, The Jameson Old Midleton Distillery in East Cork is a wonderful and worthwhile excursion. The distillery tour is quite educational and shows you how the world famous Irish Whiskies is brewed. Finally, the tour finishes with a range of Jameson whiskies for the group to taste. An idea! Follow up by enjoying another Whiskey Tasting back at Hayfield Manor? (Estimated 30/40 minutes’ drive time from Hayfield Manor)

The Town of Kinsale:

Notably, Kinsale the Harbour town has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cork. Famed for its abundance of award-winning restaurants & stunning harbour views, a trip to Kinsale is worth the mere half hour journey from the city. Beautiful scenic walks around historical grounds and coastal inlets are a great way to spend an afternoon. Before dining in one of the many restaurants where seafood is a speciality. Concierge Golf recommends restaurants to dine such as Fishy Fishy, Finns Table & Man Fridays. However, there are a lot, lot more pubs and restaurants to discover in Kinsale. (Estimated 30/35 minutes’ drive time from Hayfield Manor)

Visiting Cobh:

Finally, the harbour town of Cobh is a popular tourist destination. It is a short journey from Cork city, with a regular bus and train service to the town. We suggest taking the train to Cobh. Places of note in Cobh are visiting the Cathedral high on the hill overlooking the town. As the last port of call of the ill-fated Titanic, homage is paid to the 2.5 million Irish who emigrated from the Cobh Heritage Centre. Now the Titanic Experience Cobh is a permanent visitor attraction in Cobh. Uniquely situated in the original offices of The White Star Line. The location marks the departure point for the last 123 passengers who boarded the Titanic on its doomed maiden voyage to America. Their story is told using innovative audio visual technology bringing the characters to life through cinematic shows, scene sets, holographic imagery and touch screen technology.
Equally important is a ½ day tour to the historical Spike Island tour! There is a boat located at one of the piers in Cobh that shuttles people back and forth daily. I understand it is a 15-minute boat ride each way to and from Spike Island. (Estimated 30/45 minutes’ drive time from Hayfield Manor)
